Damascus Home of Redwater, Inc. provides quality care and services for men, women, and their families suffering from the crippling effects of addiction. As a non-medical treatment and recovery program, our vision is to empower men and women through a faith-based, 12 step recovery program. We provide extensive spiritual application and life skills to help them discover hope and God’s purpose for their lives.

Two decades ago and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the organization of Damascus Home of Redwater, Inc. was established. Damascus Home Rehabilitation Center is a non-profit organization in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. This ministry for recovering adults has maintained uninterrupted status with the Texas Department of State Health Services as a “Faith-based Chemical Dependency Treatment Facility” (FB3152).

In 1995, Jim Cooley finally found freedom from his own drug and alcohol addiction and gave his heart to Christ. Throughout Jim’s life, he has been through some of the nations “best” rehabilitation centers with no hope for his condition.

In 1995, he found that he could find victory plus have a new purpose in his life. This is because of a new life that he found through Jesus Christ. Since then, Jim and his wife Donna, have been totally sold out in helping others find the hope and the purpose that God has for them.

They first started Damascus Home out of a near by house. Because of the success that they were having with others, God provided a huge facility to begin to help others. Soon God would give them another facility in Queen City, Texas, which was open for 5 years until the property sold with the intention of re-opening it in Bowie County.  Many times Jim and Donna have gone several months without any income from their own ministry so that they can continue to pour into the lives of others.

The current goal of the ministry is to raise support for re-opening the women’s center in Bowie County and to continue to meet the ongoing needs of Straight Street Restoration Center for men, which offers low-cost treatment for men age 21 and older.
