Guatemala – McConnells on Mission – GUA002

We moved to Guatemala in 2017 for the purpose of serving and living, full-time, at Eagle’s Nest Children’s Home – an Evangelical ministry. The Nest (as we affectionately call it) was established in 1984 by the founders, Larry & Claire Boggs, as a temporary home for children. In 2008, international adoptions were shut down in order to address the rapidly rising problem of child trafficking, and government corruption. As a result, Eagle’s Nest went from having close to 90 children under the age of 5 to having approximately 40 children over the age of 5. We no longer only care for babies and toddlers until their overseas adoptions are complete, but in many cases we are raising kids and teens until they transition out of our Home and into adulthood. The large majority of the children in our home have been placed with us by the government due to abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment. Our desire is to not only give them the tools and education they need so that they can make a difference in Guatemala, but most importantly to teach them about the saving grace of God.

First Baptist in Burleson, Texas is our sending church, and through them we receive partial support. The remainder of our financial support comes from individuals, like you, that feel led to join us in ministry to children in need.

Before our calling to serve full-time at Eagle’s Nest Children’s Home, Terry served as a firefighter in Fort Worth and Tiffany spent 13 years as a private flute teacher in the public school system. We have two sons, Mike and Christian, who live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with their families.

God has given us a passion for the kids and staff of Eagle’s Nest, along with the people within our community.  Partnering in ministry with like-minded believers has been an unexpected blessing. Contact us if you have any questions or would like to speak with you about scheduling a trip to serve at the children’s home.

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
James 1:27
